The compound microscope is one of the two types of modern microscopes (the other being the stereo microscope). His name is complex because it uses more than one important optical part. The compound microscope using objective lens and eyepiece to provide a better view of the sample.

a. The objective lens – objective lenses are those that are closer to the sample. It is primarily used to collect light from the sample. A compound microscope is generally 3 to 5 lenses lens, each with a different degree of magnification.

b. The eyepiece. This is the part where you put your sights on having a clear view of sample examined. This is cylindrical in shape. The eyepiece, also called the eye, is actually a lens.
