Its application is the most important factor in choosing a microscope. What to see and what you do with that image will determine what type of microscope you need. Microscopes typically come in two types: the compound or stereo microscope.
The most common is the compound microscope. It's most people visualize when thinking about the microscopes. A microscope with one eyepiece is called a monocular microscope with two eyepieces is called a binocular microscope, or could have an additional camera tube and is called a trinocular microscope. The compound microscope has a number of objectives (the objective closest to the object being viewed) increases several mounted on a rotating nozzle. Use a light source below the stage to illuminate the slides. These microscopes are usually used to see tiny objects as cells or bacteria. Increased compound microscope fields 40X to 1000X range. Actual magnification can be calculated by multiplying the eyepiece power by the power of the objective lens.
The other type of microscope called a stereo microscope or dissecting microscope. It uses two eyepieces and two objectives linked. stereo microscopes come in models that are fully capable of zoom and models that only have only two options for extension. Stereo microscopes are particularly useful for biologists dissections, technicians in the building or repair of circuit boards, paleontologists cleaning and fossils instruction or any one who needs to work with their hands on small objects. You can find stereo microscopes that have been incorporated into the light source from above, below, or none at all. Increase is generally much lower than that of a compound microscope, but is calculated in the same way by multiplying the eyepiece power by the power of the lens Objective.
