"A paradigm
shift in the radiology interpretation process has become a pre-requisite
to effectively explore the wealth of diagnostic information present in
exams performed with the new imaging modalities, such as multislice CT,
and multi-sequence MR. These huge datasets cannot be analyzed anymore in
an analog-film like model. Techniques based on 3D, fly-through, 4D and
image fusion will become the standard tools to assess huge stacks of
2D images. The TRIP initiative
will be the ideal white space where all the players of the Radiology
Community can meet and develop the new viewing solutions for tomorrow in
a spirit of true collaboration and academic excellence."

"Barco has
established a leadership position in medical imaging by providing high
performance visualization products to view and interpret data from the
latest medical imaging devices. Advancements in medical imaging
technology present both problems and opportunities. The large amount of
data collected results in many images for the radiologist to study,
providing the opportunity to move beyond 2D reading and interpretation
techniques to volumetric approaches.
Barco believes that the TRIP™ initiative
is an important step in unlocking the potential in the latest generation
of medical devices. As an industry partner in the radiological
interpretation process, Barco would like to share its expertise in
visualization technology with other leaders in the industry to work
collaboratively towards achieving the TRIP goals. Together, we can
examine the medical goals and constraints of working with the data and
the technological capabilities associated with creating workable
products in support of these medical goals." |

“The objectives of
the SCAR TRIP initiative—improving the quality and efficiency of the
radiology interpretation process and increasing patient safety—so
closely mirror our underlying objectives and product development goals
at Fuji,” stated Clayton Larson, vice president of marketing and
network development for FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA. “We are
pleased to be supporting SCAR in this important endeavor, and believe
that by bringing the industry together we can collectively develop
effective strategies for and make monumental strides towards alleviating
the challenges of ‘information overload’.” |
