What is CIIP?

SCAR/SIIM is establishing a new program for Imaging Informatics Professionals (PACS administration) to become certified and to earn the credential of CIIP (Certified Imaging Informatics Professional).

SCAR/SIIM is recognized as the leader and an unbiased, expert source of information in the field of Imaging Informatics. SCAR/SIIM maintains an ongoing commitment to the entire Imaging Informatics community, and is now taking the next step toward the further education and professionalization of the industry through its Imaging Informatics Professional Certification Program. The certification program will define the standard to demonstrate knowledge and competence necessary for professionals in the field of Imaging Informatics and recognizes the distinct competencies that varying backgrounds bring to the profession.

In the future, the certification program will evolve to encompass its own Board and governing body and include other stakeholders in the field.

The first examination will be available in September 2007. The certification exam will be available several times per year at designated computerized testing centers throughout the United States and Canada.
