Course Description:
This course will address the knowledge gap experienced by many PACS administrators by introducing and exploring the blend of competencies required for Imaging Informatics Administration. Two distinct tracks will be featured to augment clinical knowledge for those with an IT background and technical skills for RTs and other clinicians. Attendees will learn about the impact of PACS across the entire medical enterprise. This course will help explain the framework for future Imaging Informatics Administration certification.

Each presentation will direct participants to the following resources to assist in preparation for future certification:

• Recommended sessions within SCAR 2006 which are relevant to the topic;
• List of publications dealing with the topic;
• List of applicable websites regarding the topic that will provide greater detail for study.

Target Audience:
Individuals who are new to PACS administration, those who want to learn more about the wide range of competencies and skills required for this career, those who are interested in becoming PACS administrators, and individuals who are interested in pursuing professional certification in the future.
