SCAR 2006 Program

The SCAR 2006 program is a comprehensive educational and scientific program unmatched in the field.  SCAR provides an open environment for imaging information professionals to access expert, unbiased, and cutting-edge resources in a collegial and practical atmosphere. It consists of the following types of sessions:

General Sessions – The opening and closing sessions spotlight core topics of interest to radiological informatics professionals. Invited speakers and key thought leaders in the field address major issues regarding the past, present, and future of digital imaging and the electronic medical practice.
SCAR University Sessions - The entirety of SCAR U will be presented at the Annual Meeting including Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced level courses.  The 2006 SCAR University curriculum features 12 sections.
- Introductory 100 Level:
The 100-level presentations provide attendees with the basics and fundamental information used in everyday application of the technologies. These sessions are suitable for attendees with little knowledge of image information technology.
- Intermediate 200 Level:
The 200-level presentations will allow participants to explore the technologies in greater depth and are more applicable to those with limited practical experience.
- Advanced 300 Level:
The 300-level presentations will allow participants to explore digital imaging technologies in greater depth.  These detailed and complex didactic offerings are aimed at the technophiles and more experienced users of the technology.
Scientific Sessions – The scientific sessions are the heart of the meeting, and each session features moderated, peer-reviewed presentations grouped into related categories.  The scientific program also features a poster and demonstration session/awards, and the Roger A. Bauman award for the best student paper.
Special Sessions – Invited speakers and key thought leaders present in-depth, specialized learning opportunities on cutting-edge, timely topics. In general, these sessions include topics not covered by SCAR U.
Roundtables  - These facilitated discussions will focus on topics of interest in career development, open source, reading room architecture, and grant/government resources.  In addition, the popular roundtables for residents and PACS administrators will be repeated this year.
